Dooly's Hotel stands in Emmet Square, the very centre of Georgian Birr. The hotel is one of the oldest coaching inns in the country dating back to 1747 and now enjoys the status of being a 3 star hotel.

Birr was laid out during the Georgian period and still retains many of its original features such as its wide tree lined walls, pleasant gardens, period houses and Georgian character. The town has a fantastic historic trail and beautiful boutiques for shopping.

One of the jewels in the town's crown is surely the magnificent Birr Castle Demesne. The grounds extend to over 100 acres of formed layouts, river walks, terraces and parkland. The world's tallest box hedges are to be seen on the grounds along with many hundreds of species of trees, plants and flowers.
